liberate yourself from flash on page in firefox key interception

Filed under: CIO — Sagacious Himself @ 1:10 am

firefox ignores hotkeys no more

visit a flash game site, play a game, try to spawn a new tab, fail

must click somewhere in page not-on flash object, hotkey to spawn new tab: extra hassle for teh win

Why does IBM have the solution but not the (paid) mozilla foundation?

Using the preference “extensions.customizegoogle.misc.filtercolor” in about:config you can control
the color of a filtered URL. If it’s not there, you’ll have to create it. The default color is grey (“#aaaaaa”).
This way you can make it disappear (“#ffffff”) or stand out (“#ff8000”).

Ideal for making wikipedia, itself a neologism, vanish from results

firefox stop unresponsive script — would be great to autostop after user specified seconds

Filed under: category euthanized, firefox,Geeky goodness — Sagacious Himself @ 9:36 pm

For those atrociously designed sites that gobble up my power it’d be nice to autostop unresponsive scripts after 3 seconds. If whatever cannot accomplish whatever else in 3 seconds I don’t want whatever it is anyway.

Will CoScripter be to GreaseMonkey what Natural Language was to Lexis/Nexis? I prefer boolean with proximity modifiers, but I will prefer CoScripter.

Filed under: category euthanized,dom inspector extension,Download — Sagacious Himself @ 6:17 pm

two methods. the latter is just for fun. Be sure to up maxversion in install.rdf (change value to one asterisk)

– download install from (
– UN-7zip the exe
– zip contents of directory
– change zip extension to xpi

(optionally using MRtech local)
– browse DOMI existing directory — of custom install with DOMI
– zip contents of directory
– change zip extension to xpi

download DOM Inspector from Firefox setup exe:

addendum I did not want to include this in with directions as it would create mozillazine headaches so it gets a mention without specifics (advanced user isolation)

(3) pickup directory and place in profile’s extension staging area

block flash interstitial ads

add to your AdBlockPlus filters (ctrl+shift+a, or r-click ADP icon)

I’ve been debating telling the AdBlock list people about this, but the flash developers like to think they have gamers captive.. so I’m sharing my “amazing” discovery with you: NO more in-game interstitial ads.

…. its and ADP feature I’ve been requesting for a while…  extension to have the same ‘power’ as the browser

alternatively:    to use   … other fun combinations.

Simple hack to view PRIVATE myspace comments

easily view myspace features obscured by pathetisad profile page “design” while protecting yourself from myspace insecurity, evil ads, rogue profiles, etc etc

FIRST STEP myspace people: STOP using internet explorer. why?

SECOND STEP myspace people: get free Mozilla Firefox, install it, and ONLY EVER use firefox web browser NEVER EVER internet explorer again

THIRD STEP myspace people: get free AdBlock Plus for Firefox plus three EasyLists

interacting with the noscript developer is about as appealing as a walk through the forest of central park in new york at 3am

FOURTH STEP myspace peoplee: get NoScript and RequestPolicy for firefox  subjective reality de damned this is being not subjugated to false reality so your profile is less likely to be deleted. allow “”

FIFTH STEP: get GreaseMonkey and this UserScript [x] now you’ll have a little grey box top right on every profile with direct links to items like photos, comments, etc.  Optionally get Stylish then browse to make myspace appearance less garish.

IMPORTANT: do NOT surf the web in an admin context.  Is your windows user in the administrators group? that’s bad.  Create a new, ‘limited’ user for web surfing to be ‘safe’.  XP: Start, settings, control panel, user accounts.

… if you have downgraded to Windows 7 then, masochist, enjoy that.

yod iha mogu

I don’t use google products; this includes gmail.  Would you pay to be raped and mugged?  Of course not.  Don’t use google stuff.. with the exception of Iron, a fork of a google evil plan.

March 27 2008: userscript updates available… all features working again.. updates available only by request

March 30 updates:

update: optional SIXTH STEP: learn how to check your webmail with thunderbird, or auto check for new mail with Webmail Notifier in firefox
