paypal sees fit to strip needless www host prefix sometimes internally but not primary face?

strips away ‘www’.  hooray! hooray?  Then why does paypal.com force redirect to http://www.palpay.com for visitors?  Are tracking logs to be clean but the public use sullied?

Adobe.com does the same switcheroo to http://www.adobe.com  yet the above code is
