Adblocking is essential to privacy.  SRware’s fork of Chromium, is the only way to use the google (evil ad serving empire) open source web browser.  A few bytes closer to ideal:

If one plans to use Steve Pellegrin’s set of scripts to strip down rick752’s AdBlockPlus list, The EasyList, originally intended for BFilter, with SRware’s Iron Chromium Fork some adjustments might be needed

Otherwise manually ditch the whitelist, convert ! to # for comments, and dump $ and following per line.

The reason I “pirate” TV episodes is because I’m too lazy to build a PVR.  I was just enough UNlazy to hackup my xbox to boot Xbox Media Center, and use it to pull episodes from another computer.  And yes I prefer them commercial free.

So online, broadband TV? Its not full screen, I cannot watch it on my big screen TV.. and uck there are non-integrated commercials.  The solution isn’t yet stream adblocking… instead its the fun of flash module hacking.

If you modify the extension please support the author.. by actually opting-in to support him.. or not if you merely like tweaking. Performing these modifications will annoy the developer a little more than he annoys ebay by removing their ads.

WinRar or a decompression tool that can open JARs, which are really zip files
some time
a loathing for ads
a desire to tweak

- download the xpi from addons.mozilla.org
- change the addons file extension from XPI to XPI.ZIP
- open the xpi.zip

Do NOT try this at home as it will annoy the nagware author:

download the extension
append .zip to the filename
extract the contents and directory structure
find and unpack the JAR file in the chrome subdirectory
using a real text editor (neither notepad nor wordpad) open [filename].js
search for [stuff] change the second and third instance of false to true
save the file
open the extension as zip, navigate to the chrome directory, open the jar, drag [filename].js into WinRAR, close winrar, when prompted update the xpi.zip, close the first instance of winrar, remove the .zip (so the extension is only xpi)
drag the xpi into firefox to install the hacked shortship pro extension

there, now its no longer nagware. IF you enjoy the extension donate to the author

again do NOT perform the steps in this thought experiment

thought experiment temporarily munged as I wrote it from memory and do not recal the particulars of the ONE file needing modification or the search point for the nagware timer. There are many entertaining ways to do this. When the author makes his extension comply with the spirit of mozilla by making the payment system OPT-in this hack will no longer be necessary. Sure you could comply with his wishes… but whose to say that what he wants should trump what you want? Espcially if you’re not re-distributing his extension
